Dr. Esther Chung
Dr. Esther Chung is a San Ramon pediatric dentist who was born in South Korea and grew up in Australia, Singapore, and China. She moved to New York to attend the BS/DDS Early Assurance Program, a combined 7-year undergrad and dental school program at the State University of New York (SUNY) in Buffalo. Dr. Chung graduated summa cum laude in Biology with the Honors College, and continued to the School of Dental Medicine at SUNY and was awarded the SUNY Distinguished Volunteer Award. She was also awarded the AAPD Merit Predoctoral Student Award for most promise in pediatric dentistry.
Dr. Chung held leadership positions as president of the Pediatric Education and Dental Outreach Club where she pioneered outreach to teach maternal health classes at the Children's Hospital, made mouthguards for local middle and highschool basketball teams, and led fluoride varnish outreach to a nearby Amish community annually. Dr. Chung did her pediatric dental residency at John Oishei Children's Hospital. Her focus there was children with special health care needs and medically complex children. She also taught as a clinical instructor for predoctoral students at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Chung is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry (AADMD), California Dental Association ( CDA), Southern Alameda County Dental Society and the American Dental Association (ADA).
Outside of the dental office, Dr. Chung enjoys figure skating in outdoor ice rinks, playing the piano and trying out new coffee shops and restaurants. For years her parents have been participating in medical missions as a physician and pharmacist. Her dream is to someday join them on medical and dental mission trips around the world!
