Whether you’re a new patient or a returning one, we’re looking forward to caring for your loved ones and setting the stage for a lifetime of happy, healthy smiling! We encourage you to review the following information in advance of your child’s appointment; that way, once both of you arrive, you know what to expect and can enjoy a positive experience!
Your First Visit
When you and your child enter our pediatric dental office, you’ll both quickly notice that we have TVs, toys, coloring areas, and all sorts of activities to occupy your child while you’re waiting for the appointment. When it’s time, you’ll be called back to a treatment room where we will have your little one sit in the dentist’s chair. We’ll show them the various dental instruments we’ll be using and explain how each of them works, and then we’ll begin by polishing their teeth. Next, we’ll take age-appropriate dental X-rays and then complete an examination of their teeth, gums, and oral structures—we want to be as thorough as possible! We can then provide any necessary treatment recommendations and apply a fluoride gel or varnish to their teeth if needed, and you’ll of course have time to chat with us and ask any questions that might come up. At the end, your child will be presented with a new toothbrush and goodie bag!
New Dental Patient Forms
To make things simpler on our end, and to also cut down on your waiting time when you arrive here, we invite you to download the new patient paperwork and fill it out in advance. All you’ll need to do is bring these completed forms with you to your child’s appointment, and our team can quickly get the information entered into our system before bringing your child back for their checkup!

Understanding How Dental Insurance Works
Dental insurance works a little differently than medical insurance, which focuses more on reactive treatment and dealing with issues after they’re popped up. By design, dental insurance is meant to encourage patients to pursue preventive dental care, as it ultimately reduces the potential for more severe and costly issues later on. This also includes restorative treatment in many cases, but not cosmetic care. If your child needs orthodontics, this might be included with your existing policy, but you might need to purchase an additional plan if anyone in your home potentially needs orthodontics in the future.
What Your Dental Insurance Plan Covers
When you call us to schedule your child’s appointment, we will take down your insurance information and review your available coverage. Although each plan is different, the benefits typically adhere to something like this:

- 80% minor restorative care
- 50% major restorative care
We strongly encourage you to take advantage of the two dental checkups and cleanings that are included in your child’s plan every year. Not only will you pay little to nothing out of pocket for these checkups, but your little one will be less likely to develop problems throughout the year!
